              November was an unusually busy month as I transformed part of the old Curves space in Niwot into an art gallery and studio.  The Grand Opening celebration was on Friday, Nov. 26 during Niwot’s Enchanted Evening.  As small of a space that it is, a four-member Denver-based band “Soul’d Out” (whose name is changing to “Blue Avenue”) kept the gallery hopping all night long.  Thank you to all who attended!

      Now it is time to get to work!  After almost ten years at home with my kids, I will be working at the gallelry/studio Monday thru Saturday from 10-5.  Some weekdays I plan on having help at the gallery from 3-5 so I can still pick up my kids from school.  It will be a transition - a good one, I hope!

     The gallery is called Manifest Art Gallery.  I choose that name based on the research I am doing on Tramp Art.  In hobo language, to catch the “manifest” was a good thing - to hop a fast, non-stop freight train.  I thought It was a good name because the gallery is located near such tracks.  The gallery is also where I will be making cigar box purses - a contemporary form of Tramp Art. 

      I am looking for artists who also make contemporary fine art and fine craft.  I decided to accept work from those living in a specific geographical location known as the Front Range Urban Corridor - an area along the Colorado Rocky Mountains and part of southern Wyoming.  Trained as an anthropologist, my goal is to learn what “contemporary art” is along the Front Range.  I believe that most people have a vague notion of what “contemporary art” is,  but I want to learn what it is locally by using ethnographic research methods.
